Anyone who has worked for a United Way for even 10 minutes realizes that United Ways have a language all their own. Since Halloween is just around the corner, we are offering you the opportunity to earn a treat (no tricks here) with our Jargon Challenge. To earn your treat, all you need to do is be the first person to identify which of the following six jargon terms or phrases is pure fiction. Only ONE of these jargon terms or phrases is fictional – the remaining five are all actual terms or phrases used by United Ways.

  1. Core service investments

  2. Key influence sectors

  3. United Way agencies, partner agencies, funded agencies, and community supported agencies

  4. Cultivator call

  5. Aligned impact outcomes

  6. Unification

Can you recognize which ONE of these six terms or phrases is fictional? If you can, here is your opportunity to earn a treat! All you have to do is e-mail us at info@perspectives4uw.com and tell us which term or phrase you believe is fictional, and for bonus points, show us your creative side by creating an appropriate definition for the fictional term or phrase.

The first correct answer will earn a treat from Perspectives! In our next blog post on Halloween, we will share the definitions of all of the real terms and phrases! Good luck!
